The President's office stated it on Wednesday. France is in a major political turmoil. The recent resignation by Sebastien Le Cornu is a major indicator, as France has had 4 resignations of the Prime Minister this year.
According to the reports from Reuters and other major news agencies, work is being done to find a capable candidate who can handle and stabilize France's current political instability and prevent another snap election.
Meanwhile, the nation is stuck in a deadlock. The French parliament, since 2024, has been in division where the president's centrist alliance lost its majority. But there were also various efforts to form a government with unity, but it failed every time, leaving France in political turmoil.
Outgoing PM Sebastien Le Cornu, who was appointed only in September, resigned this week after his government fell within the initial days. It was also one of the shortest modern French tenures, according to the Guardian.

But each appointment has its pros and cons.. France's opposition parties have blocked nearly every policy in parliament in recent times. As per Euronews reports, the outgoing PM has admitted that the president's next pick will decide the future of France.
Meanwhile, for the Macron administration, time is ticking to pass the national budget of 2026. It will be a challenge for a new appointee and the parliament to approve it by year's end. The major disputes over the budget are
- pension and tax reforms
- public spending limits
- support for workers and social programs
